Cross sections of iliac artery stent intima harvested on day 28 from rabbits treated with either a control anti-serum or the anti-α4 antibody HP1/2. The brown color reaction product demonstrates immunolabeling for T-cells (a,d), neutrophils (b,e), and SMCs (c,f) performed using anti-CD43, RPN3/57 and anti-smooth muscle α-actin antibodies; respectively (magnification X400; hematoxylin nuclear counterstain). T-cells and neutrophils are infrequently found in the stent intima harvested from either rabbit groups at this and earlier intervals post stent implantation. Moreover, SMC also appear to be equally abundant in these tissues.
