ABSTRACT
Previously,
-MSH, a 13-amino acid neuropeptide and the tripeptide
-MSH have been shown to possess potent antimicrobial properties. We performed microplate based growth inhibition assays on C. albicans with
-MSH, but could not observe any growth inhibiting effect. Repeating the originally published assay with different C. albicans strains, we detected a mild growth inhibiting effect of 100 µM
-MSH, but again no effect of
-MSH.
Key Words: Candida albicans antimicrobial neuropeptide
